Stay In Halifax

Halifax (90,000) is the largest town in Calderdale, West Yorkshire, the most Southern of the Yorkshire Dales, on the edge of the stunning South Pennines. Easily accessible, with excellent road and rail connections, it is a thriving market town with beautiful town centre Victorian architecture although there are earlier examples too including the magnificent Piece Hall dating from 1777.

Halifax and Calderdale is now known across the world as a top TV filming destination. For this, we have to credit the amazing local lady Sally Wainwright who has written the hit series ‘Happy Valley’, ‘Last Tango in Halifax’ and most recently ‘Gentleman Jack’ which is based on the life of another female icon, Anne Lister of Shibden Hall. Come and see the filming locations, walk the beautiful countryside and explore the historic towns, villages and buildings.
